Pool Membership Requirements for 2025 Season

 Membership Requirements:

Dues must be up to date to access the pool.

Members must be listed as current in the membership database with a valid, current photo on file.

Photo and membership information must be updated annually through your Online Membership account.

 For Renters:

Renters must have a Landlord Permission Form on file to access the pool.

This form can be obtained directly from the association.

Encore Pool Rules & Guidelines

General Pool Safety:

No running around the pool area.

Health Restrictions:

People with communicable infections, colds, runny noses, skin rashes, pink eye, or diarrhea within the past 48 hours are not allowed to enter the pool.

Rinse off in the outdoor shower before entering the pool.

Pool Attire:

Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back.

Only swimsuits designed for swimming are allowed.

No street clothes or inappropriate swimsuits (e.g., thong-style suits).

Underwear is not allowed in the pool, even under swimsuits.

Children & non-Swimmers:

An adult must accompany non-swimming children who are too short to stand in the pool. Flotation devices do not replace this rule.

Wading Pool:

For children under 5 years old only.

Intended for quiet, passive, non-swimmers.

Diaper Policy:

All children must wear swimsuits.

Toddlers who are not potty-trained must wear approved swim diapers.

No paper or cloth diapers allowed in the pool for health reasons.

Additional Pool Etiquette:

The lifeguard stand is for lifeguard use only.

Anyone found on the stand will have their membership suspended for the season.

Exclusive Adult Swim Period:

Fifteen minutes each hour is reserved for adults (18+ years old) to swim without children.

During this time, non-swimming children 2 years old and younger may remain in the pool only if assisted by a parent or guardian, and no further than one foot away from the adult.

This is at the discretion of the Pool Manager and/or Lifeguard.

Facility Access:

Do not open the pool gate for anyone other than your own family members or guests.

Rules of Conduct

Encore Pool Conduct and Safety Rules

Courtesy & Behavior:

Courtesy and Politeness must always be observed.

No loud or profane language or boisterous conduct will be permitted.

Boisterous conduct is defined as overly active behavior that could be dangerous to others.

No pushing or throwing people into the pool.

Smoking & Alcohol:

No smoking or vaping allowed on Encore Pool property.

Please help protect the health and safety of all members.

No one under 21 may possess or consume alcoholic beverages.

No illegal drugs may be brought into the pool complex.

Music & Noise:

Music/Radios must be played at a low volume, limited to a six-foot diameter.

Earphones are encouraged.

Please be respectful to others, especially children and families and the neighbors living near the pool.

Explicit music will not be allowed.

General Pool Restrictions:

No glass containers or glass bottles in the pool facility.

Sunflower seeds and gum are not permitted.

Towels, rocks, hard balls, water balloons, large inner tubes, flotation devices, food, drinks, cell phones, water guns, cigarettes, and e-cigarettes are not allowed in the water.

No jumping on lounges or standing on chairs, tables, or any furniture.

Barbecue & Facility Use:

Please use barbecues only in designated areas (per San Jose Fire Department regulations, barbecues may not be moved).

You may not bring outside barbecues or furniture.

Bring your own charcoal, fuel, matches, and utensils.

Clean up tabletops, tuck in chairs, and check for any garbage in your area before leaving.

Dispose of all trash and recycling in the appropriate containers.

Bathroom & Cleanliness:

Please use common courtesy in the bathrooms.

Clean up and dispose of paper products properly.

Do not flush female products.

Animals & Service Animals:

No animals are allowed in the pool area.

Only service animals are permitted.

ADA service pets should check in with the Gate Attendant and be added to the membership.

Solicitation & Petitions:

No petitions, subscription papers, political or religious expression, or solicitation of funds is allowed.

Only the Board or Pool Manager can approve the sale of goods and services.

Parental Responsibility:

Parents will be held responsible for the conduct of their children, whether they are present or not.

Parents must always supervise their children in the Wading Pool.

Parents are responsible for their children's use of the pool bathrooms and showers.

Parents with young children:

To avoid pool closure due to contamination, swimming diapers are required for any child who is not fully toilet trained.

Swim diapers are available for purchase at the front desk.

Pool Rental Information

Member Parties:

Reservations must be made at least 14 days in advance.

The Pool Manager must approve all requests.

For parties held after lifeguard hours, there will be an additional $25.00 per hour lifeguard fee to retain the lifeguard. (The party will be denied if a regularly scheduled lifeguard is not available.)

Guest Limit: Groups will be limited in number at the Pool Manager’s discretion to prevent overcrowding. Pool safety is the primary concern when making this decision.

Fees:

$300.00 fee (non-refundable) covers party/guest fee for up to a 20-person guest list.

$100.00 cleaning deposit (refundable) is required when the reservation is made.

The cleaning deposit will be returned within one week after the party if all rules and regulations are followed.

If rules are violated, the deposit will be retained by Encore Pool.

Host Requirements:

The sponsoring adult must remain at the pool while the party is ongoing.

The Host/Hostess must remain at the Gate Entrance to check in guests.

A special area will be designated for parties. Due to limited pool furniture and space, we may not be able to meet all requirements.

No outside entertainment or loud music is allowed.

As a courtesy to others, we ask that you do not use speakers.


Community/School Events:

Encore Pool allows community organizations and schools to host events at our facility.

Requirements:

A party request form must be submitted to the Pool Manager along with a refundable $100.00 deposit.

The lifeguard fee will be waived, but non-members must pay a $5.00 guest fee.

The maximum number of guests allowed will be 40 per activity.

Only one organization or school is allowed to use the pool per day.

Staffing & Safety:

Encore Pool will provide our own staff lifeguard.

No outside lifeguards may be brought in.

If a lifeguard is unavailable, the event will be denied.

Event Requirements:

The sponsoring member of Encore Pool must be present at the event.

Each guest will be given a wristband to wear while at Encore Pool.

Proper swimwear is required for all swimming guests.

Encore Pool Guest Rules:

Accompaniment & Registration:

Guests must be accompanied by an active pool member and registered at the main gate with the Gate Attendant.

The Encore Pool Member must remain at the pool at all times to supervise and be held accountable for their guests' actions.

Guest Limit:

Each Encore Pool Member is allowed to bring a maximum of 4 guests per day.

During crowded times, guest access may be limited or denied.

Additional Guests:

If a member would like to bring in more than 4 guests, please refer to the Pool Rental (Parties) section for more information.

Guest Fees:

There is a $10.00 guest fee for everyone entering the facility, whether they are swimming or lounging on the pool deck.

Guests under 2 years of age and those over 60 do not have to pay the guest fee.

Waiver Requirement:

Guests 18 years or older are required to sign the WGHOA Encore Pool waiver when entering the facility each year.

Responsibility:

All guests are required to follow the Encore Pool rules.

It is the member's responsibility to ensure their guests are aware of and adhere to these rules.


Swim Lessons at Encore Pool:

Lesson Coordination:

Encore Pool offers private and group swim lessons for both members and non-members.

The Swim Lesson Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and coordinating all lessons.

Lesson Area:

If a private swim lesson is scheduled, the area designated as the "Lesson Area" will be reserved for the Swim Instructor and swim student only.

Swim Lesson Availability:

There will be 4 swim lesson sessions each summer season.

These sessions will be held in the morning, before the pool is staffed with lifeguards and gate attendants.

Please check the calendar for dates and times.

Instructor Policy:

Only Encore Pool staff may conduct swim lessons at the Encore Pool Facility.

No outside instructors may teach or bring in others to conduct lessons at the pool.

Staffed Hours:

Pool Hours will be posted at the pool.

Lifeguard and Gate Attendant will be on duty during staffed hours.

Member Check-In: All members must check in and out with the attendant on duty.

Membership Verification: Members must present their key card with membership ID for admission.

Non-Staffed Hours:

No Employees on Duty: During non-staffed hours, there are no employees present.

Admission: Admission is by key card only. Only paid adult members are allowed entry.

Age & Membership Requirement:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must be a current member with an issued key card.

Under 18 without Adult Supervision:

Anyone under 18 years old without adult supervision will be asked to leave the pool immediately.

The member's pool key will be deactivated, and the Board of Directors will take further action.

Gate Access:

Members inside the pool are NOT allowed to open the gate for anyone other than their own family members or guests.  The member's pool key will be deactivated, and the Board of Directors will take further action.

Unaccompanied Minor Rules:

Unaccompanied Minors may visit the pool only when a lifeguard is on duty.
To be considered an unaccompanied minor, the following requirements must be met:

8 years of age or older, A current pool member, pass a swim test administered by an Encore Pool lifeguard, Parent must sign the Unaccompanied Minor Form, Minor agrees to follow all Encore Pool rules, 

Unaccompanied Minor Form: This form must be on file in the membership account.

14-Year-Old Members: A child member who is at least 14 years old and has an unaccompanied minor form on file may visit the pool without a parent and bring only one guest when a lifeguard is on duty.

It is the responsibility of the child member to ensure their guest follows all Encore Pool rules.

Pool Keys:

One Key Card per Membership: Each membership is issued one key card per season. Key Card will be activated after payment is completed each season.

Renters:

Renters are required to have a "landlord approval" form on file with the association before a key card is issued.

Lost Key Cards:

If a key card is lost, it will be replaced one time for a fee of $20.00.

The original key card will be deactivated once it is reported as lost/stolen to Encore Pool staff.

Minor Conduct Infractions:

Examples of minor infractions include:

Roughhousing

Shouting profanities

Inappropriate behavior

Consequences for Minor Infractions:

  1. First Offense: Polite warning
  2. Second Offense: Stronger warning and a time-out period
  3. Third Offense: Exclusion from the pool for one day
  4. Additional Offenses: Long-term exclusion from the pool. Admission will only be allowed after a parental conference if the offender is a minor.

Serious Violations:

These are considered major infractions that result in loss of pool privileges and may involve Board action:

Alcohol use, smoking, profanity, or illegal drug use by minors

Illegal drug use by adults

Serious threats or disrespect to members, guests, or employees' safety

Use of pool key by anyone under 18 years old

Admitting unauthorized guests

Use of the pool after closing

When a “Pool Closed” sign is placed over the entrance gate, the pool is considered closed.

Any person inside the pool facility after closing will face a $100 fine, and all pool privileges will be suspended. This is considered trespassing, and the police will be called to investigate.

Theft or destruction of pool property, gross littering, or vandalism

Pool Closed Policy:

When the “Pool Closed” sign is placed over the main entrance gate, the pool is officially CLOSED.

Penalties for Violating Closed Hours:

Any person(s) found in the pool facility after closing will be charged a $100 fine.

All pool privileges will be suspended.

This is considered trespassing, and police will be called to investigate the disturbance.
