ENCORE POOL RULES

Current pool membership is required for admission. Dues must be up to date. Members must be current in the Membership database with a current photo.

Members must update their photo and membership information every year to their Online Membership.

Renters are required to have a Landlord Permission Form on file, which is obtained from the association, before pool admission will be granted. 

Pool Rules

No Running

Persons with communicable infections, colds, runny nose, skin rashes, pink eye, diarrhea with in the past 48 hours may not enter the swimming pools.

Please rinse off in the outdoor shower before entering the pool. 

Hair longer than shoulder length should be tied back.

Only swimsuits designed for swimming and appropriate to a community swimming pools are allowed at Encore Pool. Members and guests shall not swim in street clothes or inappropriate swimsuits such as a thong bathing suits. Please do not wear underwear with your swimsuit in the pool.

An adult must accompany non-swimmer children who are too short to stand in the pool into the water. The use of flotation devices does not supplant this rule.

The lifeguard stand is for lifeguard use only. Anyone seen on or in the chair will have his or her membership suspended for the season.

The wading pool is for children under the age of five ONLY. It is for quiet, passive, non-swimmers.

All Children must be in swimsuits toddlers that are not potty trained are required to wear approved swim diaper. No paper or cloth diapers are allowed for health reasons. 

Swimming lessons are taught only by Encore Pool Staff when staffed or non-staffed.

Fifteen minutes each hour shall be allowed for an exclusive adult (18 and over) swim period.

During the adult swim period a non-swimming child (2) two years and younger assisted by parent or guardian may remain in the pool as long as they are not more than one foot from the adult. This is at the discretion of the Pool Manager and/or Lifeguard's approval.

Persons inside the pool facility may NOT open the gate to anyone other than their own family members or guests for any reason.

Rules of Conduct

Courtesy and Politeness will always be observed. No loud or PROFANE language or boisterous conduct will be permitted. (Boisterous conduct is defined as overly active conduct that is dangerous to others) No pushing or throwing persons into the pool. 

There is no smoking or vaping allowed on the Encore Pool Property. Please help protect the health and safety of all members.

No one under the age 21 may possess or consume alcoholic beverages.

No illegal drugs may be brought into the pool complex.

Music/Radios – play at a low volume with the volume limited to a six-foot diameter. Earphones are encouraged.  Please be courteous and respectful to those around you especially children and families no explicit music will be allowed. 

Glass containers or glass bottles of any kind are not permitted in the Encore Pool facility.

Sunflower seeds and gum are not permitted.

Towels, rocks, hard balls, water balloons, large inner tubes and flotation devices, food, drinks, cell phones, water guns, cigarettes and e-cigarettes are not allowed in the water.

Please clean up tabletops, tuck in chairs and check for any garbage in your area before you leave. 

Please dispose of all trash and recycling in the appropriate containers. 

No jumping on lounges or standing on chairs, tables or any other furniture. 

Please use barbecues in the designated areas only (per San Jose Fire Department restrictions barbecues may not be moved). You may not bring in any outside barbecues or furniture. Please bring your own charcoal, fuel, matches and barbecue utensils. 

Please use common courtesy in the bathrooms. Clean up and dispose of paper products after use. Do not flush female products. 

NO animals are allowed in the pool area. Only service animals are allowed.  The ADA pet should check in with the Gate Attendant and be added to the membership.

No jumping on lounges or standing on chairs, tables, or any other furniture. 

No petition, subscription papers or political and/or religious expression will be permitted.  No solicitation of funds. Only the Board or Pool Manager can approve sale of goods and services.

Parents will be held responsible for the conduct of their children whether they are present at the pool or not.

Parents will always supervise their children in the Wading Pool.

Parents will be responsible for their children's use of the pool bathrooms and shower.

Parents with young children – Pool Contamination To avoid closing the pool for 24 hours and a fee due to contamination; we require swimming diapers for any child who is not fully toilet trained. Swim diapers can be purchased at front desk.

Pool Rental (Member Parties):

Reservations must be made at least 14 days in advance. The Pool Manager must approve all requests.  Those parties held after lifeguard hours will be charged an additional $25.00 per hour lifeguard fee to retain the lifeguard. The party will be denied if a regularly scheduled lifeguard is not available to be scheduled.

Groups will be limited in number at the Pool Manager’s discretion to prevent overcrowding. Pool safety is the most important reason for this decision.  

A $150.00 fee (non-refundable and covers party/guest fee up to a 20-person guest list), and a $50.00 cleaning deposit (refundable) is required when the reservation is made. Your cleaning deposit check will be held until the Gate Attendant on duty completes a party evaluation form and turn it into the Pool Manager.  If all rules and regulations are followed, then the deposit will be returned to the member.  If the rules and regulations were not followed, then Encore Pool will keep the deposit. The cleaning deposit will be returned within one week after the party date.

The sponsoring adult must remain at the pool while the party is underway. 

The Host/Hostess must remain at the Gate Entrance to check in their guests. 

A special area will be designated for parties. Due to a limited amount of pool furniture and space, we may not be able to accommodate all your requirements. No outside entertainment can be brought in or loud music allowed. As a courtesy to others around you we ask that you do not use speakers.

Pool Rental (Community/Schools):

Encore Pool will allow community organizations and schools to use our facility for their member’s events. A party request form must be submitted to the pool manager with a refundable $50.00 deposit. The lifeguard fee will be waived but non-members must pay a $4.00 guest fee.  The total number of guests allowed will not exceed 40 people per activity. Only one organization or school per day. Encore Pool will schedule our own staff lifeguard to be on duty. No outside lifeguard may be brought in. If one is not available, then the party will be denied. The sponsored member of Encore Pool must be present at the event.  Each guest will be given a wristband to wear while at Encore Pool. Proper swimwear is required by all swimming guests.

Rules for Guests

Guest must be accompanied by an active pool member and registered at the main gate with the Gate Attendant.  The Encore Pool Member must remain at the pool to be able to supervise and be held accountable for their guests’ actions.

Encore Pool Members are allowed to bring in a maximum of 4 guest per day. During crowded times guests may be limited or denied access to Encore Pool facility.

There is a guest fee of $5.00 for everyone entering the Encore Pool Facility. Whether they are swimming or just lounging on the pool deck.  Guest under the age of two years of age and over 60 will not have to pay the guest fee.

Guests that are 18 years or older are required to sign the WGHOA Encore Pool waiver when entering the facility each year.

All guests are required to know and follow the Encore Pool rules. It is the members responsibility to convey these rules.

Swim Lessons:

Encore Pool will provide scheduled private and group swim lessons to members and non-members.

The Swim Lesson Coordinator is responsible for the coordinating all lessons for members and non-members.

If a private lesson is scheduled while members are using the pool the area deemed as “Lesson Area” is for the Swim Instructor and swim student only.

There will be 4 sessions available each summer swim season. The will be head in the morning before Encore Pool becomes staffed with Lifeguard and Gate Attendants. Please check calendar for dates times.

Only Encore Pool staff may conduct swim lessons at Encore Swimming Pool Facility.  No others may teach lessons or have people come into teach lessons.

Staffed Hours:

Pool hours will be posted at the pool.

Lifeguard and Gate Attendant on duty. 

All members must check in and out with attendant on duty.

Members must present key card with membership id. for admission.

An unaccompanied minor may come to the pool only when a lifeguard is on duty. An unaccompanied minor is 8 years of age, a current pool member, passed a swim test administered by Encore Pool lifeguard, parent must sign unaccompanied minor form, and the minors must agree to follow the pool rules and unaccompanied minor form is to stay on files in the membership account.

A child member at least 14 years old who has an unaccompanied minor form on file will be admitted without a parent and can bring only one guest when there is a LIFEGUARD on duty. It is the responsibility of the child member to make sure the guest follows all Encore Pool rules listed here.

Non-Staffed Hours:

No employees on duty. 

Admission is by key card only and must be a paid adult member.

Must be 18 years of age, be a current member and have an issued key card.

Anyone under the age of 18 without adult supervision will be asked to leave the pool immediately. The members pool key will be deactivated, and the board of directors will take further action.

Persons inside the pool may not open the gate to anyone other than their own family members or guests.

Pool Keys:

Only one key card per membership per season.

Renters are required to have a "landlord approval" form on file, which is obtained from the association before a key card is issued.

Lost keys cards will be replaced one time for the fee of $20.00. The key that was originally issued will become deactivated once it is reported lost/stolen to Encore Pool Staff.

Minor: This is defined as a pool conduct infraction. Examples include rough­housing, shouting profanities, etc.

First time: Polite Warning

Second time: Stronger warning and time out.

Third time: Exclusion from the Encore Pool facility for a day.

Additional: Long Term exclusion. Admission only after a parental conference if the offender is a minor.

Serious: Loss of all pool privileges for a year. Board action is required for this.

Alcohol, Smoking, Profane language, or illegal use of drugs by minors.

Illegal use of drugs by adults.

Serious threats or disrespect to members, guests, or employee’s safety.

Use of pool key for admission by those under the age of 18.

Admitting unauthorized guests.

Use of the Pool after the pool is closed.***

Theft or Destruction of pool property, gross littering, or vandalism.

***“Pool Closed” sign is placed over the main entrance gate pool is deemed CLOSED

Any person(s) in the Encore Pool facility after the pool has been closed will be charged a fine of $100.00 and all pool use privileges will be suspended.

This is considered trespassing and the police will be called to investigate the disturbance.

Pool hours will be posted at the pool.
